Beautiful med-evil town - cobblestone streets throughout. Also vines growing as this is wine growing region of Germany. We only had a few hours to explore but it is a small enough town to see most of the town.
Melk, Austria & the Danube approaching Melk
We pass beautiful scenery as we sail up the Danube from Durnstein. This was the nicest scenery on the trip. We visited the Melk Abbey which is spectacular - then walked through the small town before heading back to the boat.
It was a religious holiday when we got to Linz - so it was not very crowded during our morning walk. However we did see a couple of processions.
Passau is a nice town. Three rivers meet at Passau. We walked the old town in the morning - then in the afternoon we walked the new part of town where there was a shopping mall, and a number of fast food restaurants. We also walked through the local university. Worked up a thirst and we found a non-touristy local bar and ordered a couple of local beers.Check out the heads on those beers - so good that Denise had a beer - not usually her first choice, and the chef even poured a couple of beers for himself. After we enjoyed our beers we headed back to the Boat which was getting ready to head to our next and last stop.
This was the last stop on our Danube Cruise. Nice Town. We located the the Central Train station and bought our tickets to Munich which was our next stop on our adventure.
